Cleaning Up Messes

There are people who clean up messes. Physical messes.  They come into the classroom and mop up after a kid gets sick. They make office building or airport bathrooms bearable. They lovingly clean old people who are incontinent and those struggling through chemotherapy.   They are the ones who rip up sodden carpeting after a flood, collect garbage, separate materials for recycling, scoop away sludge and mud after a hurricane or stack up what’s left after a tornado or fire.  I can’t even begin to think of all the jobs that fall into this category.  Some of these are done for money, some are a labor of love. Whether money changes hands is not the issue.  What would we do without the people willing to take on these tasks?  I am so grateful for them, they are the “fixers” in our world.
