Ride ‘Em, Cowgirl!

I went to a quilt show today in a town about 20 miles north of here at a large fairground complex. Finding the fairgrounds was easy peasy but then…………which of the buildings had the quilts on display? There obviously were other events going on. The parking lots in front of all the buildings were totally slammed. I left my car at the nearest one and walked kind of a long way to the entrance. There was no sign advertising a quilt slow but I saw three women coming toward me. They looked like potential quilt show goers and I asked them which of the big buildings had the show. “Well, not this one,” one of the woman said and laughed as she pointed to the one in front of me. It turns out she and her friends had had the same issue. They had parked where I did. They had gone into that building and at the entry, paid a $120 fee to get in and didn’t ask for a receipt. I was mystified, as my understanding was that the quilt show cost $15. They actually coughed up that large amount of money and walked in, though they told me the music playing “didn’t sound like quilting music”. Turns out they had just bought tickets for the rodeo, which was about to start. The three of them laughed so hard and told me the nice guy at the entrance refunded their money. They pointed out the correct building, which was a ways away and across the highway. I moved my car, paid my fifteen bucks and enjoyed the quilt show. But I am still laughing, thinking about these three older, staid looking women buying tickets for the rodeo.
