On The Move
I lived in the same house in the same small town from the time I was very young until I got married. After that my husband, our children and I happily wandered like vagabonds from place to place around the country — though I’ve been in the Northwest for a long time, we previously lived in nine states over a twenty year time period. My husband loves to tell people that we couldn’t afford to travel, so we just moved. One of my children was born in the Midwest and two in the mountains of Appalachia. They went sledding in Maine, mastered the art of saying “y’all” in Georgia, fished from an ocean pier and played in the dunes on an island off the coast of North Carolina and learned at school in Texas, what it was like to be a minority in the classroom. I loved moving and the diversity of the people in so many different areas. Little pieces of my heart are all over the place.
Nice!
