Turn a Corner
“Turn a corner and meet your fate.” A quote from Woodrow Wilson’s future wife, after the chance meeting that led to their eventual courtship and marriage. I heard this expression for the first time the other day in an audio book about the sinking of the Lusitania. I think it was the 1920’s version of what I often say now: that something is meant to be or the universe is unfolding as it should. I bet that there have been down through the years, lots of expressions that describe that belief. I wish I knew more of them.
I saw a new one (to me) as part of a car commercial recently. At the end, it said “Be yourself. Everyone else is taken.” I love that.
“It is what it is”. That’s one of my favorites. The next step after turning the corner and meeting your fate, is accepting it.
