Walk into the Future
In a series of energy-based bodywork classes I took, the instructor often did sessions at the end of the day to demonstrate the work. Sometimes during those sessions the person on the massage table would have a fairly profound experience — and sometimes would just enter a nice, relaxed state of being. Whatever the outcome, this teacher always quietly said to the person as he or she stood up and got ready to leave, “Now walk into your future.” Once I saw a young man who had just had a treatment stand up and walk so slowly, so deliberately and so thoughtfully forward that all of us who were observing, realized how truly mindful he was of the instruction. I’m going to try to put this into practice in my day to day life. In the mornings when I wake up and get out of bed, I’m going to walk into my future.
