Planning Ahead
I am a planner-aheader. I’m much more comfortable if I have a firm idea of what I’m going to do and when I’m going to do it. My husband, on the other hand, is a spur-of-the-moment kind of person. It seems to me that he would happily leave on a lengthy trip, the day he decided to go. I know a delightful woman who last year, chose to wait until the day of Christmas Eve to do all of her holiday shopping. She wasn’t too busy, it was purposeful. She said she wanted to experience first-hand, the crazy excitement associated with that day and afterwards, reported that she had had an absolutely wonderful time. I could probably live my whole life and not aspire to that. My husband likes to quote the military saying, “to plan ahead is to plan twice” and though I’ll admit that sometimes that turns out to be true, I enjoy the planning of a trip or event almost as much as I like doing it. So the way I figure it, doing things my way means I might very well get to enjoy the experience twice.
