Anything Can Be a Hat
When our oldest grandson was about a year and a half old, he liked hats and wanted to wear one a bunch of the time. I think I remember that he even liked the word “hat” and it may have been one of the first things he said. One day our son put a small toy fish on our grandson’s head. “What is that?” he asked our newest family member. “Hat,” came the reply. After all, it was on his head. “Yes,” our son said. “Anything can be a hat.” True enough. A lesson in literalism.
