Sprinting

A friend who is going through a difficult time and whose way will probably not be easier for a while, expressed her difficulty with her situation by saying she is by nature a sprinter, not a marathoner.   I like that description, being a sprinter myself.  People like we are, are not literally sprinters — we are people who like quick and easy fixes for things, not necessarily remedies that require patience and long term tending.  Even waiting for bread to rise sometimes ranks fairly high on the scale of my personal patience. I think my friend’s analogy is a good one — I’m going to start working on becoming a marathoner.  Tomorrow.  As soon as I learn to stop procrastinating.
