Dino in a Tree

Not too long ago I re-watched the movie “To Kill a Mockingbird”. One of my favorite things is Boo Radley leaving secret treasures for the kids to find in the hollow of a tree near their house. I discovered a Madrona tree with a hollow at Richmond Beach Saltwater Park, one of my favorite places to walk. I own a lot of small rubberized dinosaurs and don’t have a more valid reason other than I like odd things and miniatures. Anyway, I started leaving one of my dinosaurs in the tree hollow when I walk there. I hope some kid will spy it, be enchanted at their find and take it home. I would also love it if an adult who has managed to hang onto their inner child were the one to discover it and take it. There are no age restrictions. I leave it and the next time I walk there, I check to see if it’s gone. I carry a spare in my pocket so if it is, I can replace it. If it’s still there, which has only happened once or twice, the little dinosaur waits a little longer. I also have a cache of tiny rubber chickens at home but I’m not quite sure yet how they will be called into service.
